Happy New Year Everyone!

I recently had a chance to interview with Lee Woodruff for an AARP article to share my story. Click the link below to view the article:

A 2014 RAND study reported that there are over 5.5 million military caregivers in America. Yet, America’s caregiver population, as a whole, surpasses 40 million. AARP is one organization that provides education and resources to the entire caregiver community. I was honored to share my story with AARP’s online community this past November. Thank you, Lee Woodruff, for a remarkable interview, capturing our story’s essence and the other caregivers highlighted in this publication.

In the article, I discuss ways that I identify as a caregiver. Here’s an excerpt:

“… Having that definition has helped me define who I am,” she says. “Not only has it given me an identity, but it has allowed me to give back and help other military caregivers on this same path. It was gratifying to know that my inner strength and drive to help and serve others is not just thriving, but a fundamental part of who I am.”

I hope your New Year is off to a terrific start! Remember to wear a mask, maintain social distancing in public places, and stay safe!
