Do you know why we celebrate Veterans Day? The U.S. Department of Defense explains the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Unlike Memorial Day when we honor those who died serving our country, Veterans Day is when we celebrate all who have served.
Many military couples – including me – actually married on this special day (another interesting fact). So many military couples get to celebrate Veterans Day and their Wedding Anniversary at the same time! As a result, celebrating my wedding anniversary has been an adventure! I have had the chance to celebrate my marriage and hero – all at the same time!
There are many community resources that support veterans. For example, one program that has been established to honor veterans on Veterans Day is the B&Bs for Vets program. This amazing program offers a FREE stay for one night on or around November 11th to a veteran and his spouse! You can also visit Military.com to see a variety of additional special deals that are offered throughout the country to show support to our nation’s veterans.
A huge thank you to all of the veterans and active duty service men and women, and their families, for your sacrifices to our country! Your sacrifices will never be forgotten.
